Meet Dr. Douglas C Beatty MD
Dr. Beatty received his Bachelor’s Degree in Zoology and Master’s in Biology at the University of California, Los Angeles. He attended the first two years of medical school abroad at the University of the East, Manila, Philippines, completing his medical degree at U.C.L.A. in 1981. He completed his internship in Internal Medicine and residencies in Internal Medicine and Emergency Medicine at the Los Angeles County-University of Southern California Medical Center in 1985.
Dr. Beatty worked in Emergency Medicine as an ER physician in various hospitals in the Los Angeles area from 1983 to 1997. From 1993-1997, he provided Emergency Medicine in numerous hospital ERs across the nation working as a locum tenens physician. In 1997, he relocated from the Los Angeles area to Smyrna, Tennessee where he went into private practice—Internal Medicine and General Practice.
Dr. Beatty served as a senior staff emergency physician during hurricane Katrina. He was a senior physician in the triage hospital, set up at Louisiana State University at Baton Rouge.
The center was responsible for treating 6,600 patients in one week during the week following Hurricane Katrina.
Each year Dr. Beatty travels to Kenya, East Africa to direct medical malaria care and prevention on Lake Victoria, West Kenya
